Joe started hunting at a very young age and was lucky/fortunate/blessed to grow up in a hunting family. His father cultivated Joe’s love for the outdoors and helped him take his first whitetail at only five years old. Joe gave up the rifle when he was 15 and started bow hunting full time on his own. Chasing the heavily hunted and pressured whitetails in the South taught Joe tremendously, and he has been able to grow his hunting passion into a full time business as the owner of Sporting Adventures International.
After College Joe went to Africa where he was accepted to the very prestigious G.A. Steenkamp professional hunter’s school. Upon completion of the school, he then spent the next few years working as an apprentice under different Professional Hunters around Africa before getting his full PH license. He is one of only a few US citizens to hold a cherished Professional Hunters License and takes his clients on dangerous game safaris to Northern Mozambique and Southern Tanzania.
Joe has been very fortunate over the years and has hunted or guided in 11 different countries. Just this past May, he took the new free range world record Red Stag with a bow in Argentina. Whitetail has always been his true passion, and he has said “Guys that can consistently kill mature whitetails with a bow year in and year out can be successful hunting anything on the planet.” Joe now spends the better part of the fall hunting deer all over North America and has taken many Pope & Young bucks. He really enjoys hunting different locations and different deer, especially figuring out a particular animal and moving in on him. In his opinion hunting big mature whitetails is by far the greatest challenge in the hunting arena, and he hopes to continue doing so for many years to come.
